5 Books for a Healthier Mindset

I haven't read a book all the way through in 4 years, so getting through 5 books since August is actually quite a feat for me. I tend to read a lot of self-help books, which may or may not be your thing. I think we can all use a little help in changing our mindset though, so here is a great list of books that got me out of my funk and turned me into a goal-digger with a positive mindset!

1. You Are A Badass

Jen Sincero

First off, what isn't to love about someone named Jen? In this real-talk novel, Jen Sincero, a success coach and author, helps readers identify and change self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors that are holding them back from achieving their goals. For me, this book really identified the areas in my life where I wished I was a badass, but couldn't get out of my own negative headspace enough. I learned how I was standing in my own way and where I needed to change my self-defacing thoughts and attitudes in order to start succeeding and really living my life again. Check it out on Amazon here.

2. 52 Ways to Live a Kickass Life

Andrea Owen, CPCC

This is a great follow-up to You Are A Badass (and definitely shows my taste in book titles). In this simpler read, Andrea Owen, life-coach, offers 52 things you can start implementing in your life today to be a better person. I like this one because it isn't just about me, but it also incorporates ways to get real with and help other people. I read it after the first book randomly, but I decided the order was great because after a swift mindset change, I was open to the ideas Andrea shared, where normally my negative mindset would get in the way. Check this book out on Amazon here.

3. PIVOT: Five Practices to Strategize

and Support You Through Change

Pauline Caballero

This book I received in a monthly subscription box from TheraBox. It is about hunkering down where you are at and pivoting direction to make a change. It walks you through 5 weeks of practices to implement change and that allow you to dig deeper in your purpose for change. I liked that it was updated for COVID-19 - it takes in to consideration the change and uncertainty we have all felt over the past couple of years. We all need healthy habits now to handle change and this book offers that. This book is available on Amazon here.

4. The Gifts of Imperfection

Brené Brown

Brené Brown is a shame researcher with a number of books, some I have read and some that are on my list of things to read. In this book she explores the ways our need for perfectionism can get in the way of wholehearted living, a term she coined. For me, what really hit home was the idea that perfectionism is a defense mechanism to protect us from shame. In this book we are presented with 10 guideposts and how to dig deep in to each one. 5. How To Stop Feeling Like Sh*t

Andrea Owen, CPCC

Another Andrea Owen Book that offers ideas of how you can take control of your mindset to provide yourself with a happier, healthier life. This book tackles the 14 most common self-destructive behaviors women usually engage in and offers ways to reframe your way of thinking to eliminate thoughts that make you feel like shit. This read is on the easier side with a lot of reward. This book can be found here if you are interested in looking at it further.

That's it! The 5 books I recommend for a healthier mindset, any one of which can uplift your life and set you on a new path to a better and more rejuvenated you!
