YOU VOTED! List of The Top Cities to Visit Summer 2022

This past August I decided to start living in different cities across the US. So far have I have loved the experience! I know this is something I want to keep doing for a long time coming. I realized though, as much of a challenge as it is, I keep visiting cities I already know. There isn't a problem with that, but I am ready to visit somewhere completely new to me. So I did what any rational person would do - I put it up to my Instagram followers to vote on where I should travel this summer.

Before I show you the top voted cities by you, here are my top 5 cities I wanted to do a short-term living stint in this year:

  1. Washington, D.C. I visited this area in late March when I was about 13 years old. This was when the cherry blossom were in full bloom, so I am really set on revisiting this city in April and May to experience that again.

  2. San Francisco, CA As you know, I am already here for 6 weeks, so I can cross this one off my list! A lot of my family lives here, so it was important for me to try out living here to see what it was like to live close to extended family for the first time.

  3. Denver, CO I haven't been here, but I have heard great things about it - I am not sure if it would be a city for me, but I am open to trying everything!

  4. Austin, TX I have been to Austin so many time I can't even count, but I love it! The city itself is super laid back, and I always feel achieved and a sense of control when I'm here. I love the great food and fun activities on the lake. I would love to try staying here for an extended period of time.

  5. Los Angeles, CA Another city I have been to a few time, I also have family within a couple hours of here. The feel in LA is different, and likely a place where I would spend a lot of my time splurging on food and purchases, as well as indulging in spa treatments galore!

With all that said, I was really excited to learn where you thought I should go! So here are the top cities you voted for me to live for the summer of 2022:

1. Boston, Massachusetts AND Seattle, Washington

I find it very interesting that two northern cities on opposite sides of the country got the same number of votes (6 each). Both cold and somewhat rain or cloudy, I wonder what you guys are trying to say by thinking I would fit in well there? Each of these are of interest to me, but I can't go live in both this summer, so......

There will be a final vote on my instagram to decide where I will be going!!

In the meantime, feel free to give me suggestions for both cities in the comments below. Excited to see what you recommend and definitely can't wait for the final vote! Keep an eye out on my instagram stories for the voting buttons that will be coming up in an insta-story soon.

Here are the honorable mentions for cities that were recommended to me by some trusted travelers and friends!

Casper, Wyoming

A city located in central Wyoming at 5,150 feet in altitude, Casper is the second largest city in it's state. Across the span of the 26 miles this city covers, it is known for it's hiking trails and outdoor activities. The city was built east of the former Fort Caspar and along the mid-19th century Oregon trail. Now the city boasts nearly 58,000 residents and a work life balance incomparable to the rest of the US.

Big Sky, Montana

Big Sky is home to large ski resorts that share 5,800 acres of terrain. Great for skiing or golfing, Big Sky is also known for the water rafting and kayaking along the canyon's Gallatin River. The Historic Crail Ranch Buildings located there showcase how life was lived back in the 1890s when the buildings were built by the Crail family.

Durham, North Carolina

Durham, also known as "Bull City", was a thriving tobacco city in the late-1800s. Now, the city has preserved this memory by having 12 of the 22.6 mile American Tobacco Trails that run alongside the abandoned railroad (originally built in the 1970s for the American Tobacco Company). With great shopping, local food and hiking trails galore, there is no shortage of things to do here.
